General Conference Kit

This idea came from my Visiting Teacher Chrissy Lee, who brings me wonderful treats like this all the time!
So of course I had to make them for mine. If you are not LDS you might be wondering what General Conference is...Twice a year we get to watch a broadcast of our church leaders as they inspire and encourage us to be more Christ like. Click HERE for more info. What is a Visiting teacher?...click HERE.
Ok, back to the cute stuff. You can download the topper HERE. The bag is filled with a personal bag of popcorn, notepad, pen, extra gum and lotion. It cost about $2.00 a kit if you can get a good deal on the lotion. The penas and little pads of paper were in the school supplies on clearance(I always pick some up when I find a good deal.) I could only find the small packs of extra gum at Dollar Tree. And make sure you get the Jolly Time brand of popcorn, the other brands personal size packages were as big as a regular bag. Have fun!

Bats about you!

Yes, the die we used has been discontinued, but we couldn't resist. The owl punch is still in the catalog, I'm sure you could figure out something to make the wings with! I love how the heads are textured with the chevron folder. You could also put the bats on a long candy.

Dressing up Composition Books

Never again do we have to cover the whole composition book.  They have so many fabulous designs now.  What makes it even better are the clear covers we found for them. Now all that hard work (well, not in this case) doesn't get ruined in your purse.  The cover even has a pocket for note taking essentials.

Rat Traps

Almost a year ago we posted some pictures of some mouse traps that Renee Coburn made.  Here's a simple version we made to sell at our booth at Swiss days this weekend. First you have to do a bit of disassembling,  If you'll notice a few of the pieces are missing. Just use some plyers to pull off the extra hardware. If you cut a piece of DSP for the top and the bottom, then cut a couple of little slits for the wires they are super easy to cover.

Banner Bash- America

The back ground was stamped in Cherry Cobbler and the letters sponged with the stencil. After you cut out the stars, just fold on the lines to make them pop out. Liberty would be a great word on this banner too.

I know its still summer, but this banner might be fitting right now. I think the magnetic platform is a must with this project. We traced the letters with the stencils in this project also, yes, crazy, but we loved the layers.

Banner Bash- Christmas

The background of the Joy banner is done the same way as the Halloween characters that we posted yesterday. We tried another Joy banner with the letters stenciled on top of a whole piece of polka dot DSP. It looked was cute and it was quicker to do. I love how the ho ho one is hanging down. Lollies are perfect for banners.

Banner Bash- Birthday

We used the Perfect banner Pennants to make the hats on this banner. Then we sponged the the hats after we textured them. The pom poms are made with the scallop punch and the Blossom Party Die. To make the letters we traced the stencils and cut them out. (I know a little unusual for us but that's what looked the best.)

Banner Bash- Halloween

Halloween character Banner- To get the design on the canvas, we inked the embossing folder, the ran it through the Big Shot. Here' s a tip to help with placement of the folder...Place bottom side (the points or curve) of the banner at the fold of the folder.  Be sure to center it on the sides Sponge the edges to bring it all together. It's hard to tell but the hair on Frank is made with the Rosette Die.  Can you pick out the punches we used? Clever way to make the mouths, huh? (Chevron punch)
Witches Brew Banner- The design on the canvas here was first embossed with the folders, then sponged. The bow on both of these is the small bow die found in the Holiday Catalog.

Man Card Inspiration

So in the last post, I confessed my struggles with man cards. Now it was time to make one. I did what I sometimes do when I need an idea, and just flipped through the current Stampin' Up catalog. I wanted to show you the inspiration for this card. Sometimes we copy a card exactly or just add a few changes. But usually I will see something that will give me an idea and it will evolve from there.  So I thought in the next few posts we would show you what we saw and how it turned out.
This card was found on page 22 of the catalog. Now I needed a birthday card and I was limited on the stamp sets that I had available at the moment. I love the the black with the bright color, but I was wanting to use Island Indigo. I definitely wanted to ink the chevron embossing folder. And I really wanted to include the grunge set. So this is how it turned out. Pretty different huh?
