A Grateful Heart card

Get making those Valentine cards! The primrose heart is the inside of the red heart (well different color), then ran through the the big shot with an embossing folder.  And those little Flower trim flowers... I really just want to put those cute little things on everything!

Hearts a Flutter Frame

Try this fun frame... The squares are cut at 1-3/4 x 1-3/4. They used markers on the "love story" stamp, the rest is easy peasy. Love all the textures and layers. The frame is 5 x 7.

Kindness Tree

First of all...Sorry about the quality of the pictures.  The camera was not cooperating, but I wanted to get them on the blog. This is a kindness tree. So as a family, every time we do something kind, we get to put a heart on the tree. We are hoping that by Valentine's Day it will be stuffed full. I bound a few branches together with tape, then covered it with ribbon to make the tree.

The hearts are simple.  My girls 6 and 9 helped with those.  We just punched hearts and stuck them together with dimensionals. Tied on some bakers twine. Now bring on the kindness!

Valentine Mousetrap

Here's a fun mouse trap note holder.  We put a magnet on the back so it can be hung up.  A little heart treat would be adorable stuck under the trap. Its really a snap(ha ha, like that one) to cover after you remove all the hardware except for the hinged part. They come out easy with some pliers (my hubby liked helping with that part). If a little bit of the wood pulls up, it pushes back down easy.

More Amore Card

It's so fun to cover everything with hearts when Valentine's Day comes around. Love that it's ok to pair reds and pinks together too. This is another class project for this month. It uses lots of fun embellishments from the spring catalog. The doily was sponged up a little bit with crumb to tone down the whiteness.

Love Banner

Are you in love with this banner? We are making it in class this week. It's pretty simple.  The squares of DSP are cut at 2-1/2". Then just punch some glitter scallop circles and and heart and embellish. You gotta add the flower trim (126869), love those! Those would be soooo cute on a scrapbook page too!

Creative Journal- Christmas Blessings

For this Creative Journal, we found an old book of Christmas stories. I love how the texture of the book stands out when you sponge some ink on it. The book was green with gold trim before I covered it with gesso. It takes a few coats remember.  We did find that if you want a little of the cover to show through, it will wash off with a damp towel.  So make sure you end with a clear coat to lock everything in. You can see the brad on the spine that I used to attach the ribbon markers. Remember when gluing, use a really reliable glue.  I used Tombow mono multi liquid glue. And be sure to check out all the Creative Journal posts for all the tips.
I attached a little envelope inside the back cover to store a bunch of blank date plates to use later. Remember the more layers you add to each page the less room you will have in the book.  So don't worry about backing pictures.

Here you can see where I gesso-ed the pages, then use a texture stamp and a Christmas stamp set to add some life. I plan on adding a couple pictures and maybe glue in a memory from that year that I typed up.  Notice on the side of the book, you can see where I cut pages out by the space it leaves.  I only cut about 5 pages out at a time with an exacto knife. This book would be so fun to look though each year and add to it too!

Creative Journal- Growin' up

Here is another one! This one uses some DSP and some help from the big shot for embelishments. If you notice the brad on the side, that is what is holding the ribbon markers.  Its a little tricky to get your fingers in there. I just stuck the ribbon on the brad before I closed it inside the spine.
This is the first page in the book.  This DSP goes perfect with these old black and whites.
Here I used "gesso" to cover some of the words.  Sometimes it takes a few coats depending on the coverage you want. But I used an old childrens book, so showing some of the stories just adds to the charm. One important tip that I forgot to put in the last post.  You will need to cut out several pages to make room for all the pictures and embellishments you will be adding. I just use a ruler and exacto knife to cut about 5 pages out several times throughout the book. You can see in this picture where I cut them out.

Creative Journal- My Amazing Life

I know it has been awhile. Here is what we have been working on...
We are calling them Creative Journals. A book all about me. Shelly showed one she made at Stampin' Ups convention last July and we fell in love.  It is a combination of a journal and a scrapbook using an old book, it could be a favorite or just a random one picked up at thrift shop. There are so many possibilities too.  You could make one with Christmas memories, favorite quotes, things you are grateful for, spiritual thoughts, childhood memories... I could go on and on. I will be adding more. I have a whole stack of them.  Here is a page of one of my cute girls from this book.
There are no rules. You can stamp, scribble, paste, color. You can use "acrylic gesso" to cover the words on pages, or make the cover of the book stamp-able. I like to just draw over the top. I filled this book with people, places and things that I love. The hardest part of this book was finding pictures of me to put in it. I'm always the one taking the pictures, guess I better had the camera to my hubby once in awhile.
For this book I made a digital print for the cover and a page of little embellishment to place inside. You are welcome to download it!My Amazing Life book- CoverMy Amazing Life book-embellishments I offset the cover so that it would work for any size book.  Just trim as needed. Below is the best glue for it.
Click here if you need to buy some
Now I just have to decide which book to post tomorrow.... Have fun trying one of these!
Just added this tip- You will need to cut out several pages to make room for all the pictures and embellishments you will be adding. I just use a ruler and exacto knife to cut about 5 pages out several times throughout the book. You can see in this picture where I cut them out.
